We want to empower the next generation of thinkers and creators by providing a vibrant platform for young mind. Through our Spelling and STEM contests, we aim to foster intellectual curiosity, build resilient confidence, and unite our community in celebrating the diverse talents of our youth.

STEM FEST COMPETITION FORMAT

Round 1: Written Test

  • 📋 Format: 50 multiple-choice questions
  • ⏱️ Duration: 40 minutes
  • 🧪 Subjects: Math, Physical Science, Life Science, General Science
  • * Elementary round focuses more on Math

Scoring

Correct Answer +4 points
Incorrect Answer -1 point

Important Rules

Answers must be marked on the answer sheet only.
No writing on the question paper.
Multiple answers = disqualification for that question.
No calculators or electronic devices.
Closed-door exam (students/proctors only).
Scratch paper will be provided.

Round 2: Countdown (Buzzer) Round

Format: Head-to-head knockout matches using buzzers.

Match Rules

  • Correct answer: 1 point
  • Incorrect answer: Opponent gets a chance
  • Format: Best of 3 questions
  • Tie: Sudden Death (first correct wins)
  • 15 seconds to answer

Logistics

  • Matchups are random
  • Round 1 scores do not affect pairings
  • Parents are welcome to watch
  • Moderator’s decision is final

⚖️ Tie-Breaker Rules (Round 1)

In the event of a score tie, qualifiers are selected based on:
  1. Fewer wrong answers
  2. Higher difficulty level of correctly answered questions
Example: If 7 students qualify and 3 are tied for the 8th spot, a tie-breaker round will be conducted to select the final qualifier.

SPELLING FEST COMPETITION FORMAT

Participation Rules

  • • A student may participate in only one category.
  • • Elementary students (Grades 1-5) may choose to compete in Middle School.
  • • Middle School students (Grades 6-8) may not compete in Elementary.

Round 1: Preliminary Written Round

  • 📝 Format: 20 words read aloud by the Pronouncer
  • 🖊️ Method: Students write spellings on provided paper
  • 🚫 Restrictions: No electronic devices allowed; closed-door exam

Scoring

Correct Answer+1 point
Incorrect Answer-1 point

Round 2: Oral Spelling

Format: Traditional knockout format. Students spell and then pronounce the word.

Oral Spelling Rules

  • 1 minute allowed per word.
  • Students may ask for definition, sentence, origin, or repetition.
  • Once spelling begins, letters may not be changed.
  • Incorrect spelling results in immediate elimination.

Logistics

  • Proper pronunciation must be used.
  • Parents are welcome to watch this round.
  • Moderator explains rules before the round starts.
  • Moderator’s decision is final.

⚖️ Tie-Breaker Rules

Round 1:
  • Fewer wrong answers.
  • Higher difficulty of correctly spelled words.
Round 2:
  • Tie-breaker words will be given orally.
  • First incorrect spelling eliminates the student until a winner is determined.
